1622. Tales from the Thirty Year’s War
until 27th August 2023
Until 1622, Hamelin was largely spared the effects of the Thirty Years‘ War. A leaflet is also published this year, on which the oldest authentic representation of the medieval city fortifications and the most striking buildings of the city can be found.
The special exhibition uses selected objects and archives to tell the story(s) of the Thirty Years‘ War from the perspective of the city. It shows to what extent imperial political decisions and international war events influence local history and vice versa.
A narrative track in each exhibition room illustrates, with the help of illustrations, audio stations and short films, how the people of Hamelin lived during and with the Thirty Years‘ War. How they grew up, loved, raised children and died.
