Hamelin – The Pied Piper town

The permanent exhibition shows the history of city – from the earliest traces of human activity to the recent past. The two historical museum buildings themselves – Leisthaus and Stiftsherrenhaus – pose the largest exhibits.

As Hamelin museum has the largest Pied Piper collection in the world of course the legend has its own dedicated space, telling the story, its history and many other interesting facts and fictions from the past to today.

The museum’s highlight is the Mechanical Pied Piper Theatre, which translates the legend into an artistic installation with a modern aesthetic.
